Simon’s programme of Wednesday & Saturday Birding Tours are designed for you to enjoy and experience the fantastic countryside and birds across the South-east, taking you to different habitats for birds and other wildlife in Kent, Sussex, & Surrey.

As part of the programme of events, there is the chance to make new friends and learn in the company of regular birdwatchers.  Walks will be taken at a leisurely pace ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable day outdoors, allowing time to look at plumage details and bird behaviour.  Tours are self-drive unless otherwise stated.

There is a continuous programme of classes running throughout the year which enables you to observe the seasonal changes and migration of birds in the UK.  All tours can be booked individually of for groups.  They are available from 2 hours to a full day.  Programmed tours below are limited to 10 people to ensure that everyone has a great learning experience.

10th Jan            WINTER BIRDING THE NORTH-EAST KENT COAST
Enjoy a leisurely day enjoying the North-eastern tip of Kent, around North Foreland, Botany Bay, Joss Bay, Ramsgate Harbour & Pegwell Bay. Waders, seabirds & Parakeets!

17th Jan             SEVENOAKS & BOUGH BEECH KWT RESERVES
Wetland and woodland birds on these two fantastic sites cared for by Kent Wildlife Trust. Species highlights could include Siskin, Redpoll, Marsh Tit, Mandarin Duck, Goosander and more!

20th Jan             THE BEST OF DUNGENESS & THE ROMNEY MARSH
Explore the best of winter wildlife at Dungeness. Visiting several different areas we will discover both common and rare wetland birds. Bittern, winter swans, sawbills, grebes, & roosting harriers.

24th Jan              WINTER RAPTOR SPECTACULAR ON SHELLEY
Spend a day on the Isle of Sheppey, voted the best area in the UK to look for raptors. How many will we find? Harriers, buzzards, falcons, Sparrowhawk, and owls all likely.

31st Jan               OARE MARSHES & THE NORTH DOWNS
Enjoy an impressive array of bird species around Faversham. Thousands of waders and wildfowl, exciting raptors, and search for scarce woodland birds: Woodpeckers, Marsh Tit, & Hawfinch.

7th Feb                 WINTER AT GROVE FERRY & STODMARSH
Explore this premier wetland site in the South-east, in search of Britain’s rarest wetland birds until sunset. Look for Bittern, Bearded Tits, Cetti’s Warbler, woodland birds, & harriers.

10th Feb              WINTER RAPTOR SPECTACULAR ON SHEPPEY

21st Feb                WEALDEN BIRDS IN WINTER

Explore the Weald for woodland and wetland species. Visit the best areas for birds including locations such as Furnace Pond & Bedgebury. Wildfowl and woodland birds.

7th Mar                 WINTER ON THE SWALE: BIRDING UP THE CREEKS
Explore the hidden unofficial bird reserves in the Swale Estuary. Enjoy wildfowl, waders, egrets, and raptors. Creeks could include Conyer & Milton.

14th Mar                WINTER AT PULBOROUGH BROOKS
Enjoy a day at this premier RSPB reserve in East Sussex. We will look for Lesser Spotted Woodpecker amongst other woodland birds, and enjoy wetland birds on the grazing marsh.

17th Mar         EARLY SPRING AT OARE
Wetland and woodland birds on these two-to-three fantastic sites in the Oare/Faversham area. Enjoy waders and wildfowl, and look out for signs of spring, perhaps a Wheatear or Sand Martin.

21st Mar                  THE BEST OF DUNGENESS
Discover the start of spring migration on the Dungeness Peninsula. Will we find our first Wheatears or Sand Martins of 2018! A mix of birds as we explore this bird-rich corner of Kent.

28th Mar                  EARLY SPRING ON ASHDOWN FOREST
A day exploring the open forest and lowland heath of Ashdown Forest at the best time for Dartford Warblers. Highlights could include Woodlark, birds of prey, Crossbills and winter finches.

4th Apr                     BIRDS OF THE PANEL VALLEY & HASTINGS CLIFFS
Wetland and woodland birding in the Panel Valley, and seabirds and spring migration on the cliffs of Hastings & Fairlight. A mix of winter and spring species in these birding hotspots in E.Sussex.

11th Apr                    SPRING IN WHITE CLIFF COUNTRY
Enjoy walks on top and at the foot of the Dover Cliffs for breeding birds & a chance of spring migrants. Fulmar, Peregrine, Raven, Black Redstart, and great time & places for Ring Ouzel.

18th Apr                     BIRDS OF NEW HYTHE & LEYBOURNE LAKES
Spend a day enjoying the mix of wetland habitats at this impressive site in the Medway Valley. Wetland birds, and enjoy the sounds of spring migrants including the Nightingales.

21st Apr                     SPRING ON ASHDOWN FOREST

A wonderful location to enjoy Spring birdsong. We will explore locations across Ashdown Forest, including the Old Lodge Nature Reserve, to help us find the areas special birds.

2nd May                      SPRING ON ASHDOWN FOREST

Arguably the best time to visit this impressive area of the Weald.  Redstart, Cuckoo, Turtle Dove, Tree Pipits, Woodlark, Dartford Warbler and birds of prey all possible.

30th May                     DELIGHTS OF THE UPPER STOUR VALLEY
Find woodland birds, orchids and butterflies in Denge Wood before a peaceful walk along the Great Stour itself for different species such as Kingfisher, Grey Wagtail, & farmland birds.

6th Jun                         EARLY SUMMER ON ELMLEY NNR
Enjoy the breeding birds and hunting birds of prey at this impressive privately owned reserve. Home of declining farmland and wetland wildlife, and a great chance of Brown Hare.

20th Jun                       SUMMER AT STODMARSH & GROVE FERRY
Explore the Stour Valley in search of woodland and wetland birds. We will also have chance to enjoy the impressive array of dragonflies, damselflies and wildflowers.

11th Jul                         SUMMER AT RYE HARBOUR
This is an ideal time to enjoy the breeding tern species, now that the gulls have fledged. Enjoy their comings and goings, whilst also observing the wading birds.

18th Jul                         SUMMER ON THE DUNGENESS PENINSULA
A relaxed day exploring the areas of the Dungeness Peninsula enjoying young birds, some sea-watching, and early waders.

25th Jul                         SHOREBIRD SPECIAL AT OARE MARSHES
Enjoy wetland birds and early wader migration. An ideal time to get to know this challenging group of birds at this top reserve. A good time for Yellow Wagtail, Bearded Tits, and more.
