Hi, and thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We specialise in Kent and South-east based birdwatching and wildlife tours and education, also leading across the UK and abroad, exploring the wild corners of our planet.
Exploring The Wild was set up in 2012 by Simon Ginnaw. Born and raised in Kent, Simon has been birding in the region for over 20 years, with his favourite book at just 3 years old being the Collins Bird Guide! Growing up with just a few people to teach and tutor him on bird identification, Simon has set up Bird Classes across the county to help enthuse people about birds, and to encourage a greater number of people to share birds and birdwatching.
Simon has worked in Kent as a Ranger, Community Engagement Officer, Ecologist, and Tour Guide for 10 years, running bird identification and ecology classes, courses and events for TCV, the Wildwood Trust, Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council, Tonbridge & Malling Council, and Swale Borough Council.
In 2016 H&G Ecology Ltd was formed, incorporating Exploring
The Wild. H&G Ecology is a small company based in the South-east run by Simon Ginnaw, Robert Harris, and Lynne Harris. With over 25 years of habitat management and field experience we can provide a comprehensive professional service.
With a deep passion for the natural world since childhood, we love sharing that enthusiasm with as many people as possible. As an environmental educator with over 20 years of field experience we can bring innovation, inspiration and fun to nature walks, lessons, talks, and conferences. We lead wildlife holiday tours both independently and in partnership with other organisations to help make wildlife memories to cherish forever.
Whether you are just beginning your birdwatching adventures or have been watching birds and wildlife for years, all you need is enthusiasm and Exploring The Wild will take care of the rest. All tours are relaxed and include exciting birds in beautiful places.
The website continues to evolve so if you can’t find the information you require within these pages please contact us.
With very best wishes and good wildlife-watching,
